The rune to consider this week is Eolh.
Like Ur, this runic spirit takes a cervine form that has extremely intimidating horns. Rather than an auroch, however, Eolh manifests as an elk.
Other than the obvious difference in size, these two spirits have another major difference, how they primarily use their horns.
An auroch would (they’re sadly extinct) attack with little or no provocation. After initially killing or mortally wounding its target, an auroch would proceed to trample it for good measure, relishing every bloody moment of it.
An elk is primarily a defender. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t beyond charging and dispatching a threat. It’s just that elks don’t have the same blood lust the aurochs once did.
They would rather stand their ground, lower their heads to show off their weaponry and allow their potential enemies to walk away.
Depending on the question and the surrounding runes, when the runic spirit Eohl appears in a rune casting it could mean:
• It’s time to beef up your defences; you’re about to be attacked
• Look at the queried situation in a non-aggressive manner
• Don’t go on the attack; just set boundaries and defend your position
• Someone is trying to make you back away. It would be wise to do so unless you want him or her to become aggressive.
